Pilot Lands Plane On Florida Street

Kyle Davis, 22, the pilot, and his passenger, Joe Surowiec, were headed from Winter Haven to Lakeland, both in Florida, on Sunday for a flying festival, according to Central Florida News 13. WOW. This one means more to any pilot than most other people though. It goes to show just how little time you have in the air if something goes wrong. This one seemed like a fuel problem or maybe overheating (guessing). Having rebuilt and flown a small plane myself, watching this vividly brings back memories of the HUGE amount of stress involved in taking self responsibility for a machine that MUST NOT FAIL OR YOU DIE. These guys were very very lucky to have this outcome. If they hadn`t been able to restart the engine for just that one bit, they wouldn`t have made it onto that nice wide road, and would have been in a big mess. There`s just so little margin.

They are lucky noone was on the rode *AND* the engine didn`t die completely because if it did they would`ve had to land horizontally into the rode...that would`ve been a better video.. damn!
