Forgive the electronics student for being pissed but a diode stop CURRENT FLOW not voltage. And for anyone who actualy wants to try doing this dont concern yourself with specificaly getting the 1N4007 doide as its rated for 1000volts (very unessesary for a project like this)

should be true - nothing impossible in battery life, since the camera is 13fps only and 700x480 in resolution - so it should be orking as he says, those cameras can be purchased on ebay for under 40$ each (includes logic board and flash memory)
