Haha funny but you cant really compare americans to koreans with shit like this. You can easily be succesful in america even without a highschool education. But in korea you need to graduate from like top schools to even get a shitty job. When I moved to america from korea. it was literally heaven. It felt like all those years studying in korea was a fucking waste of precious time because none of that korean education mattered one fucking bit here. Theres just shit loads of ways to get passive income in the USA. Honestly I feel kind of bad for my korean brothers.

The rate of suicides in South Korea soared to 24.7 per 100,000 people in 2005, according to the latest statistics from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that rank the country at the top of the list.

Others with high rates were Hungary at 22.6 and Japan at 20.3, both using numbers from 2003, the latest available. By comparison, the U.S. suicide rate was 10.2 per 100,000 in 2002, the OECD said.

How is education ever a waste of time?
You must be fucking stupid, education will always be greater than ignorance.

@ziuu

He didn`t say education in general was a waste of time. He said relative to a US degree, Koreans work much harder for the same job opportunities compared to Americans.

btw I have never ever met a native Korean say that education is a waste of time. Those guys exist to climb up the social ladder.

The reason why some Asian countries have a much more demanding educational process is fairly simple. Education is mostly a way of making sure who is better at following orders. Had it been about actually learning stuff, there wouldn`t be things such as tests or grades only teacher recommendations and free study in the subjects. Nor would you need to have a grade in sports in order to get a job or apply to college.

Some Asian countries have a much higher standard for loyalty and obedience and thus have a much higher standard when it comes to school.

My class schedule looked a bit like that, but I would never get home before 10pm during high school due to music, theatre, art, tennis, and more music.

Tada hits it right on the button. Even up to post-secondary education obedience and memorization is basically all that`s needed to graduate most any Chinese university. I know `cause my girlfriends just finishing up university. All that wasted time when she really only learned something useful from about 15% of the classes. Honestly, what does the modern history of Chinese politics have to do with English translation? Or for that matter being able to run 1 km in less than 4 minutes? Possibly the most worthless education in the world.
