I would not have the balls to go anywhere near that stuff. Let alone make it lol.

My dad worked at a plant when he was interning as an engineer. A guy transporting some Nitroglycerin in a wheel barrow (obviously in containers) hit a rock and the wheelbarrow tipped over.

all that was left was a giant crater. Back in the day safety standards weren`t quite the same I suppose.

^you ever think maybe he told you that story cuz he failed Physics class in high school and never wanted you to ever discover that he did so he got a job at that plant and later on made up the story so that you would become frightened and thus far uninterested in the physics field therefore never having to deal with the question until the truth was accidently revealed to you through a completely anonymouse person randomly but carefully making a well thought out plan to confuse you?

When they were making this stuff in WWII to fill bombs with, they didn`t understand what nitro gell was like until over a hundred people died in one explosion. They reckon it was someone sneezing that set it all off.

Regarding the description: Nothing here was extracted from nitroglycerin. The nitrogen triiodide was prepared separately. He sublimated the iodine to increase its surface area so that it reacts more fully/rapidly with ammonia.
