These are the same type of biggotted idiots who campaigned viciously to stop blacks being able to marry whites. (A law that was only overturned in 1967).

They used the bible and religion to defend that shit too. As Judge Leon Bazile said in court after the arrest of Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving for living together as an interracial couple

`Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.`

Sounds a bit familiar huh?

The couple appealed multiple times to the Supreme Court of Virginia and eventually to the U.S Supreme Court who finally ruled that anti-miscegenation laws were unconstitutional. It still took till the year 2000 for Alabama to officially ammend the state constitution after a referendum in which 59% voted to remove the laws. I guarantee you that those who worked so hard to stop these laws being removed (using the same religious bullshit to justify themselves) are just as violently against gay marriage. The bible can be used to defend almost any prejudice you want (which should really make those who believe it was guided by an infalliable God, who decided that your acceptence of its `truths` or not would determine a life of paradise or eternal torture think a little about why it is so full of shit and easily manipulated) Hopefully in a few decades time biggotts like this will be looked down upon as the scum they are just as those from a few decades previously are today. Fuck em.

To both sides of the argument, how does allowing or banning same sex marriage affect you?

I`m neither for or against this issue. Should gays be allowed to marry? Should guys be allowed multiple wives or vise versa? Should people be allowed to marry animals or objects?
Yes I think they`re pretty weird, but to be honest, if all those are legalized, it probably won`t effect me one bit.

I rather just sit back and watch the religious "durr, bible beats all group" and the "oh I`m so progressive, me too" group fight it out.

^ Polygamy probably should be legal, but just highly scrutinized to stop the abuse that occurs. Animals and objects is a stupid parallel to make... neither can consent to the marriage.

Not that it matters to me, Marriage is a waste of time and money as far as I`m concerned. But everyone should have the same rights.
