BBC Horizon - Battle of the Brains 2/2

Part 1
Can you think of 100 different uses for a sock? How would you cope with glasses that turn everything upside down? What`s your emotional intelligence? Can you create a work of art in ten minutes?

Horizon takes seven people who are some of the highest fliers in their field - a musical prodigy, a quantum physicist, an artist, a dramatist, an RAF fighter pilot, a chess grandmaster and a Wall Street trader. Each is put through a series of tests to discover who is the most intelligent?

Maybe this will help society as a whole. Well, maybe europe and asia. In America there are too many close minded, religious, conservative, low IQ people.

I live in the US. I should know. I see it all around me.

The question should be how are you intelligent rather than how intelligent you are.

that would be so cool if education was aimed at a childs specific area of strength... but it would have to be done with great care... there`s no way that today`s teachers could handle that. I`d say about 95% of the teachers I`ve ever had have been completely incompitent. Its very sad, epecially in the US, there is so much potential but the priorities are so twisted politically, the education system is not taken seriously enough at all.

^I prefer to educate myself in my areas of weakness, its more challenging, rewarding and allows me to grow, whats the point of learning things you already know and are already good at? unless your purpose is simply self gratification.

^^ its not a matter of learning what you already know. its a matter of learning in a way that clicks with your brain. some of us learn by doing, some of us learn by reading. and everything inbetween and outside the box. peoples brains seem to come in all sorts of configurations.

I`ve often thought about IQ myself. I think IQ is best measured by not including knowledge with the test. The best example in the video would be the bottle - common sense. I usually think of it this way: If you put 100 people in the forest without any special training, fenced off from one another, and not allowed to communicated with one another, how would they cope? I think this would really show how well they LEARN. I think if someone can adapt/learn quickly, then they should have a high IQ. This "IQ" is just base starting point, like a baby`s brain. As a person grows, their IQ starts to specialize on either one thing, or many things, based on personality, and other external factors.
