Obama disappoints me yet again. He could of at least gave the question a valid answer instead of insulting the 90,000+ pro marijuana supporters who voted on his forum. He can`t side step this question forever especially with California and Massachusetts legalization bills underway.

Also, 65% of the cartels revenue comes from marijuana. Cut that out and the border violence will drop significantly.

I can`t believe they just shrug that off and giggle at the idea that legalizing marijuana can actually stimulate the economy. How many jobs and how much cash do you think that shit generates? A whole fuckin lot! I can say I`d be sure as shit starting a farm if it was legal. Wow Ron paul just lost a few points in my mind. What the other guy said about the toxicity of marijuana is true and fuck medical marijuana, as medicine form is already out. I do disagree with his delusion that the war on drugs is actually working though.

Also Obama sidesteppd the question because there are much more important things to worry about then legalizing marijuana.

If medicine is already out that contains THC what is the difference between smoking it and taking a pill? If marijuana is a gateway drug than making a pill that contains THC is a 100% contradiction because it would then be a gateway drug.

Ask yourself just one question, do people in America have more problems and addictions from taking pills or smoking marijuana?

If anything prescription pills cause way more of a problem than marijuana ever will, simple as that. Just look at things like xanax and oxycotton, codine and adderall. People go to rehab for pills like these. How many people do you know that go to rehab for marijuana?

Also there the whole argument against regulating marijuana and driving is irrelevant. Its called a DUI, driving under the influence of drugs. Can someone get a DUI for prescription medication? Absolutely, can they give you a breath test for xanax? No, but the point is if your too intoxicated to drive then you shouldn`t be behind a wheel. Marijuana can easily be regulated and controlled in a driving situation, as well as everything else, its called a sobriety test.

Glad to see this being discussed so much in the news lately.
Unfortunately people like this Ernest Istook keep spouting off the same old messages we`ve been hearing since Nixon, none of it of course is true.
If marijuana had anywhere near the same toxicity and tar levels let alone 4x as much, as this man claims, I and many many others would be in the hospital right now.
As much as I would love to see all drugs legalized, I know these things happen in baby-steps, I don`t use drugs(just weed)but it has to be recognized that in a free state, no person should be imprisoned for drug use, as long as its done responsibly, and without harm to anyone else.These anti-legalization types always spout off that weed is a gateway drug, yes BUT only because it is sold by the same dealers/pushers of harder drugs. If all drugs where legalized and you had to go to a pharmacy/private shop, you`re not only staying away from possible criminals (IE gang members)but getting a much safer product as well. And honestly if Coke, Heroin, Methamphetamine, PCP were legalized tomorrow...would the average Joe run to the stores with their wallets ready? Not likely. In legalizing it, a government isn`t suggesting their citizens try drugs, just RESPECTing their right to do them.

C`mon, I love to hit the bong as much as the next guy, but you need to put yours down once in a while and pay attention to the world around you. Heck, even in my stoney little world, the legalization of drugs is a few items down the list of what I think is important to deal with. None of it would occur on a schedule to make a difference in my life anyway.

But, hey, expending the entire world`s resources to find a cure for lung cancer ASAP might not be one of your priorities either.
