Vanilla Ice Says `Sorry`

Fallen rap star VANILLA ICE has sensationally apologised for his hugely successful hit ICE ICE BABY - insisting he was a music industry "puppet" at the time the single was released. The former hip-hop star, real name Robert Van Winkle, topped the U.S. Billboard chart in 1990 - making the song the first rap track to land the number one spot in the Hot 100 chart. The hit rocketed the star into overnight superstardom, but his success was short-lived, and he faced a series of legal problems due to sampling Queen & David Bowie`s Under Pressure on the track without permission. Vanilla Ice also came under scrutiny due to his erroneous claims about his background, in which he falsely stated he grew up as a gang member in the ghetto and went to a predominantly-black high school. And now the star, who last released an album in 2006 and has made a string of reality show appearances, admits he is ashamed of the song which made him famous. He says in a video posted on YouTube, "I`m sorry. Even though Ice Ice Baby sold over 40 million copies worldwide. "I`m sorry for the hairdos, the baggy pants, the scandals and I`m sorry about the music. I was young, manipulated and I was a puppet." Ice, Ice Baby was recently voted as the second worst song in history by editors of Spinner.com and AOL Radio.

You know what, as much fun as it is to rip on Vanilla Ice and everything if I were as young as he was and presented with that much fame and fortune and someone told me all I have to do is make up some shit about being gangster I probably would have done the exact same thing. "Yea, sure I shot some peeps. Where`s my playstation?"

What seriously? It`s not too terrible of a song. There are songs that are way worse than this one.

Here`s a link to the list if you`re interested.

Ice Ice Baby`s a tune. I`m not embarassed to say it. Just like i`ll happily admit that i have 12-13 of those songs in my itunes collection. If you`re honest, you`ll admit that most of them are good/great songs, they`re just overplayed.

I`ve got a much bigger problem with the reality tv shows that churn out artists doing like-for-like covers of great songs (thus almost ruining them) such as:

Blazin Squad`s Crossroads (actually blasphemous!)
Atomic Kitten Eternal Flame
or even Leona Lewis` Chasing Cars (i mean it`s barely been changed and the original came out like 2 years ago!)

Sorry for the essay, basically i`m saying don`t hate just for the sake of hating.

WHO MADE THAT LIST? seriously they have no say in what songs are good or not, if its catchy and people wanna listen to it then its a good song. to bad if its not your style and you dont like it.

thats like making a list of the 20 worst colors, everyones opinion is different on what they like. ALL those people are famous and made tonnes of money for what they did so id say they are all great songs even if im not a fan of them.

why apologize for the things they did that made them rich as a teenager? that was the times dude, your song was one of the most popular in that era and still is today, dont apologize for it... :S

Rip van tiny winkie is a prick who needs therapy to deal with it.
When he was on Sureal Life with Gary Coleman he would not leave the little guy alone about "what you talkin bout Willis?` ,but he would tear his own Ice-Ice artwork off the walls(Coleman apparently hates the whole `Different Strokes` thing too. He was doggin Gary so bad I felt sorry for him.

Id do the same thing and with no regret. He banged tons of chics and got rich, living a life we can only dream of.

He still gets money from that song anytime its used. If he was really sorry, he wouldnt cash those royalty checks. Hes just some clown whos past still haunts him.
