The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at George Bush, the former US president, has been sentenced to three years in jail.
His defense lawyer says Muntadher al-Zaidi was making a legitimate protest against the occupation and should never have been treated as a criminal.
Al-Zaidi`s action drew praise and condemnation, both inside and outside Iraq. Al Jazeera`s Omar al-Saleh reports.
