Statistical methods on this kind of testing are bullteproof, and Sheldrake is no fool. Some things strange really are happening. We know less about reality than we think.

There have been thousands of top notch _experiments done, that proved effects like this. Granted, many of them may have had errors somehow. But the norm within parapsychology is an extremely high degree of rigour, very specifically so that errors will not happen, and no unintended signalling can take place. There are too many positive proofs of parapsychological effects to simply _discount these phenoma out of hand.

There are many low grade quacks in the world, and I applaud guys like James Randi for doing his part to weed them out (and humiliate them). This particular demonstration was rather light on detail, and long on glamour, ie. par for TeeVee. But science has much accumulated proof of somethings more going on than the "debunkers" want to admit. I would love to see Randi`s reply to this demonstration, it would be interesting. Indeed, his silence would be too.

^ You can find all the data on Rupert Sheldrake`s site if you like to know the details. Theres many interesting experiments that he`s done. I recomend watching the talk he gave at Google, where he describes many of hes experiment with out going into too much detail. If you want the details it`s all on hes site.

He allso tells how Randi tried to discredit one of his experiments, claiming to have replicated them with negative results.

Highly recomend the video if your interested in parapsychology

hi mom... stop calling me all the time, I knoew it`s you everytime...

Telephone telepathy is not just random chance on guessing who is calling you... you can estimate who is more likely to call you at a given time :P

Yes you can, and thats why in this experiment they choose the caller randomly.

I will admit i usually know who is or have a pretty good estimation of who is calling me... though it could be the caller id lol naaa it does happen sometimes.

I suppose that sense of displacement you get sometimes is an "effect" of this whole other reality type thing. Or it could be the drugs!!

How many trials are they doing? It would have to be very high(hundreds) for the data to mirror the expected statistics.

^ they said something like 1000.

Q: But what about (insert statistics question here)?

Proper statistical analisys takes it all into account. That`s what actual statistics is all about: actually giving exact measurements, instead of uninformed guesses.

I`m sure the math has been done right, or Sheldrake wouldn`t be risking his reputation on it. If you have questions about the methods, then you go read his work, and it will all be spelled out.
