Maybe I`m just spoiled by modern special effects but the fact that none of the artillery or tanks cannons recoil after firing bugs the hell out of me

The Germans tried to blow it up but it didn`t work so they just left. The bridge was captured without a fight.
With the bridge captured the Americans started sending as much troops as they could across since it was the only one along the Rhine that was still intact.
After several attempts by the Germans to destroy the bridge it collapsed 10 days after its capture, killing 28 American soldiers.
