On the barren world of New Caprica, chosen for its isolation, most of the colonial fleet is held captive by the Cylons: a race of machines bent on exterminating the last remnants of humanity for their subjugation.
Part of the colonial fleet, including two battlestars, managed to escape when the Cylons arrived and are in communication with a resistant force on the surface of the world.
When explosions rip through key strategic areas, a full-scale uprising against the Cylon captors ensues.
