i had a friend in highschool who did something almost identical (5 years ago in highschool).

Except his looked like shit, and didn`t avoid or move towards obstacles. It balanced perfectly though, and you could push it, and it would compensate.

My point being that this isn`t exactly a breakthrough, though it is cool.
