^ Lmao, nice one exploder. All jokes aside though, are we really at a point in our society where we need to make psa`s about "cyberbullying"? I think people are making a huge deal out of nothing. We all went through the shit of growing up and having to deal with assholes from time to time, I think it helps add some tough skin. Thoughts?

Of course it`s overblown. We fret over the inevitable trickle down, while we ignore the elephant in the room. Our society is deeply premised on authority, obediance, punishment, control, social status. Children mirror this, all out of proportion, unskillfully, and with no "acceptable" purpose. But it`s exactly what we adults do routinely in our hierarchies: belittlement, domination, value and status judgements, etc.. So children do it too, just absent the "valididty" or subtlety of our adult games. Mostly I think they are just following group status building instincts, with little quality guidance towards better ways, and surrounded by terrible examples.

It`s ironic that this kind of behaviour is so "problematic" these days, when it was common fare for teachers, employers, etc., until quite recently, and is still common in the military ranks. It`s also implicit in many cultures and religions, albeit often more implicit, and couched in more subtle terms.

The real solution runs much deeper than most people can or want to admit. It requires people to actually grow up and get wise, have deeper inner strength, and work hard to impliment and demand real mutual respect as the basis for all interactions. It doesn`t come down well over the TV. It doesn`t one-punch the opponent in the eyes of the sheeple in the room, for a quick and glamourous win.

In a world short on compassion, it`s gonna be an uphill battle.

I don`t understand why they are making a distinction between insults over the internet an insults to your face, I mean its not different from talking about people behind their backs. If i remember back to my school days kids were alot more venomous than the ones in this advert, and this was way back in the day before the internet got going.

I dont think bullying its a sign of a bad society or even bad parenting its been around forever and probibly never will go away, unless we finaly put lithium in the water supply or something. I know there are some cases where it can go way too far and can really hurt children, but these things should be dealt with in a case by case basis. you cant expect the really nasty stuff to go away with an advert, so i assume this is not focused extreme cases of bullying.

I say anyone who treat another comrade badly should be sent to the Gulag.

^ Yup, and that`s a scary mirror to look into, that free of the in-person consequences, we often want to get mean and nasty.

AFAIC, the only way out is through, and I don`t feel alone looking in this mirror, looking for wiser people. Insomuch as the internet lets us work out alot of this shit with less blood and in-the-flesh lasting hatred, I think it`s a great thing, bullying and all.

I`ve just got to laugh at the shitness and overall counter-effective rhetoric of the advert. The whole issue is framed with question that is very easily answered. "Because it`s NOT real life. The clue is in the question, shit-for-brains!" These "cyberbullies" are only going to find this kind of shit hilarious, plus it gives them living proof that their efforts are actually getting through to people.

Sometimes calling it a problem only validates it as one.

so true evergrim! She may be one of those rare hot red-heads. Being made fun of makes you a stronger person, it builds your coping skills which are so important as adults. Dealing with adversity makes you stronger.

Now Patti knows what she needs to do, and one day she`ll have fixed her hair, her eating habits and be Lindsey`s boss. She`ll make sexually explicit comments at Lindsey to make her work environment hostile and demeaning and make her do degrading things just keep her job.

It all works out in the end.
