I like both Maher and Hitchens, but to be fair that was terribly rude of Hitchens to flip off and insult Mahers entire audience on a show he is a guest on. Bad manners though granted he does make a point.

Hitchens has balls of brass. It takes serious guts to flip off an audience, really hold your ground like that. Whether he`s right or not, he gets major respect from me for not being a sheeple.

Dumb people tend to follow popular opinion. It just happens to be the case that popular opinion, even among very intelligent people, is that Bush has done a very poor job in many respects and has repeatedly shown his own shortcomings for such a leadership position. How does this mean that only stupid people laugh at Bush jokes?

I think Hitchens doesn`t understand issue, or is intentionally misinterpreting the situation because he spent so much time defending Bush. I don`t really see how they match up ideologically, other than Hitchens and Bush both hate Muslims. So maybe he`s got the whole "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing going on.

Seeing him act this way makes me want to watch his little water-boarding video again, and see how far he`ll go to stretch his 15 minutes just a little longer. Honestly though, why is this guy famous? I`ve never heard him express a single worthwhile opinion that isn`t already pervasive.

EDIT, to the dude below me: Fair enough, but I`ve never seen him talk about one of his books, or conduct himself in any manor that would promote people to buy his books.

God I love that man. Read his book, "God Is Not Great" and it enforced my prior beliefs tremendously. You always get shunned when you`re being extremely blunt about certain aspects of belief, values, concepts and even certain sciences. Feels good when you`re not the only one doing it.

I`ve been to a couple of different shows, Maher`s included back when it was politically incorrect on the comedy central. The audience is coached up to be lively and engaged. They`re encouraged to do this before hand and even sometimes have people come up before hand to tell some jokes and get them warmed up. Sometimes in the breaks there`s someone there to keep them engaged as well. They are highly encouraged to laugh at the host`s jokes. Every single major comedy show does this. Maher`s show should not be mistaken for serious political debate, in the end its a comedy show.

Sorry but that quote originally belongs to Sigmund Freud.

and it should be pointed out that most of the quotes (also quoted by Hitchons)from Iran have been intentionally taken out of context by Israel and the USA, Hitchons is just a dummy carrying the USA, Israel out of context message, who again are on another marketing effort to justify attacking Iran again!

What Israel really fears is that Iran`s true policy is to have democracy in the Israel/Palistine territory. The Jews know that due to population differences a situation of democracy shared by Jews and Palestinians would undermine the Jews totalitarian control of the region.
