This is an interesting point. But the real solution is that we must stop delegating the decision making to politicians. We need to use the same systems we use for online banking, and use them to vote directly on whatever issues and policy we want to have a say in. This is how to increase democracy, and avoid the corruption. It was never feasible in the old days, but it would be easy now.
