Have to add this point:

MS laying of loads of regular staff whilst all the bosses get to keep theirs is no different from what any other company does. Not that that makes it ok, but I don`t see why MS should be singled out for what is essentially standard business practice.

Everyone glorifies Gates for his charity, and sure it`s great. However imagine all the tax write-offs to the IRS, he`s merely shielding his money from Uncle Sam.
