Oil is expensive because we believe there is not much left. Same thing is done with diamonds, and gold.

alifeva1 Get your head out of your rectum, Oil is little big foot and prehistoric shrubs, unless you can make a time machine, OIL can NOT be replaced as fast as its consumption.

Solar energy, carbon(plants you and me), and Time are the ingredients of our Black gold.

There where no good reasons for this war.

you can say we overthrew a horrible dictator; but so what? there are lots of dictators, many of whom are far worse then Hussein. its also really none of our business, but that`s up for debate. what no one can argue with is how can you justify this type of action and spending when we still have so many problems at home. fix our shit before you go spending my money fixing someone elses shit.

or

you can say we did it for oil. the thing is we don`t need to be dependent on oil. even with today`s technology we could power the world with a combination of geothermal, wind, and solar, and our geothermal tech is still young. we could increase gain from geothermal many times over if we invested the money in research. facts like these tend to lead to the inevitable question; why?

well, as with most things that involve our government it comes down to the lobby, as it is lobbyists that pass laws and shape our nation not politicians. There are too many big people in America filling their pockets off oil money. Chevron last year cleared $18.7 billion in PROFIT. that`s not revenue, that`s PROFIT. that`s the $ amount in the bank. think about it, they pay impoverished people to pull a liquid out of the ground for pennies. you buy that liquid insanely cheep at volume, refine it, and then turn around and sell it with a profit margin of a few hundred percent. with all this disposable income floating around you hire people to glad hand politicians and make the laws favor your industry. tax breaks, import/export restrictions, and most of all; a price system based on projected information. crude is not sold based on supply and demand, no, its sold based on projected figures and guesses. and thats it. oil will be a part of our foreseeable future because the guys who we elected to make decisions for us are getting their pockets lined by the people who it benefits. so, what will they do? they will add further restrictions to what we already have. soon we will see the carbon tax or carbon credits. hell, in California, im not even allowed to burn wood in my fireplace on a `spare the air day`. oil, its availability, and this global warming farce will soon come together. if you dont belive me, go look up the Exxon Valdez debacle. im sure everyone remembers it, tanker runs into Bligh Reef and dropped 10 million gallons of crude into the sea. they where told to pay 5 billion for damages. they went to court and got it dropped to 2.5 billion, then 500 million, then 380 million. all the while the layers made over 720 million in legal fees alone.

and that`s the corruption; lobby.

$3,000,000,000,000

damn... If they gave $1 million away to different people, that would make 3 million millionaires

The governments numb the amount by saying small words like Trillion.

Venomousvole: depends on what you consider educate. elementary, middle and high school, almost certainly. 4 year collage? not sure.

if you want to know the REAL reason why spending is out of control just read up on the fractional reserve banking system, which is what pretty much everyone uses these days. in a nut shell, because money is created from debt there is more money owed then there is money in circulation (i know that`s hard to fathom, but just stick with me here). we have finally, after almost 100 years (federal reserve act of 1913), have reached the breaking point of the system. the reason it all works is because of the delay between the time new money is created as loans and the payments for those loans are due. there is SO MUCH money owed now by everyone (about 45 trillion as of 2006) banks have to create new money through loans at an incredible rate to stave off collapse. this is why you will keep seeing huge spending by our government, 350 billion in `bail outs`, now we have an 800 billion `stimulus package` coming down the pipe. spending on the war will steadily increase, they will propose even more permanent and temporary facilities over seas. hell, when a $350,000 transport truck dies on the side of the road in one of our current war zones, they destroy it with explosives and order a new one instead of repair it.

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."
-Woodrow Wilson
Twenty-eighth President of The Unites States
Signed in the Federal Reserve act of 1913

"The Government should create, issue, and circulate all the currency and credits needed to satisfy the spending power of the Government and the buying power of consumers. By the adoption of these principles, the taxpayers will be saved immense sums of interest. The privilege of creating and issuing money is not only the supreme prerogative of government, but it is the government’s greatest creative opportunity.”
-Abraham Lincoln
Sixteenth President of the United States

“Until the control of the issue of currency and credit is restored to government and recognized as its most conspicuous and sacred responsibility, all talk of the sovereignty of Parliament and of democracy is idle and futile…Once a nation parts with control of its currency and credit, it matters not who makes that nation’s laws…Usury once in control will wreck any nation.”
-William Lyon Mackenzie King

news flash.. Freedom isnt free.. and its sad that people bitch and complain when it comes to spending money this way..

its sad that people can value money ahead of people`s freedom and quality of living..

just goes to show how selfish the world has become..

^The war in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with freedom. If a shit ton of Iraq`s (or anybody else`s) military came over on water and through air to invade the U.S., then it would be about our way of life and protecting ours but not until then.
