Hell: An Excessive Punishment

Do you think people should be tortured? Could you stand by and watch a person being tortured slowly by fire until they died? What crime would they have to commit, in your opinion, to deserve such a punishment? If you locked someone in a burning room, would that play on your conscience?

Some people seem to believe that atheists deserve an infinitely grislier fate than this, simply for doubting the existence of a god that doesn`t openly present itself. I`ve always been curious about that.

First point, if God is all good and powerful and loves all that is created, so why is it necessary to have a hell? Did God created man and the universe only so that he can be worshipped? If the purpose of man is to worship Him, then I must ask myself, "Is God worthy of worship"? If I understand this right, did God create everything in order to appease His own ego? If not His ego then what is it? Is it God`s sense of finding order in what He has created? Not exactly the God I want to "sit in the glory of" ether way.

I`m getting sick of your vids, psychologyprofessor...

Look, I enjoy this stuff just as much as the next guy. But when I come here to see kids face planting in playgrounds, or a Japanese game show involving a bungee cord and a pit of wolverines, I often enough have to filter through this Atheist -vs- Christian -vs- Creationist shit with a bunch of morons babbling about topics they don`t know anything about with the mindset that they`re right because they have an opinion. SpikedHumor gets the best of the net and posts it up for people who generally haven`t seen the article before. But now it`s like, ".....for fuck`s sake... another Atheist vid.". For the minority of users here that may somehow know nothing about Atheism, which I find to be sooo unlikely, well they can easily go to some other place to learn about it.

Stop with the annoying preaching dude.

You`re like that annoying homeless guy on the corner of the city block, proclaiming at the top of their lungs that `Jesus loves you` while everyone is blocking their ears trying to talk on the phone... except the Atheist version.

You`ve just slammed another 3 up in like an hour... kind of obsessive and crazy. Seriously, don`t stop uploading, by all means... but please a little less. I`m soooo sick of this shit, especially because in the end none of it actually matters for anything.

What is there to know? Religion isn`t that deep a subject, you don`t need to be intelligent or educated to discuss it. It`s really quite simple, there are people who believe crazy shit for no logical reason, and those who don`t. This goes for many subjects, but religion is one of the few where it is very easy to divide those people up. Don`t act like the bullshit output is equal from each side.

Some things are worth talking about, like when people not only believe crazy superstitions but actually try to infect the rest of us with them.


Keep going, these vids are rated high for a reason.

Yeah but they`re not worth talking about over and over and over again on Spiked. Thanks to the discussions repeated over and over with the same points, same arguments, same morons, it`s not even worth checking out the Top 9 on some days because of the overflow of pointless videos like this one saying the same as the last, as the last, as the fucking last... I feel like someone is trying to brainwash me with shit I already know - it`s a mind fuck. There`s plenty of crazy forums for crazy people who actually care about crazy shit. And if you think religion is simple but didn`t know any of the information you got from this video already but for some fucking reason actually give a fuck.... Yeah, I do tend to post a great deal of Anti-religion videos and, maybe some spike users get tired of them but, you did happen to CLICK on this video. If you don`t like the vid then you may vote it down.

Do you really think that atheist spiked users are a minority?? If so, why does this video and other like it receive high ratings??

It`s not that I only post atheist and only atheist videos but they do seem to be the most popular videos.

It`s SpikedHumor. It doesn`t affect U.S. Polls, Muslim terrorists, or the world`s views on the tooth fairy. If you`re videos were actually affecting people, they`d have low scores because people would be disagreeing with them and therefore actually having their beliefs and brains poked by logic. All one has to do, no matter who they are, is make a good argument. It doesn`t matter if they are hypocritical, unintelligent or, poorly educated as long as they make a good argument, THEY MAKE A GOOD ARGUMENT. It wouldn`t even matter if Richard *Bloody* Dawkins declared that he ardently believed in Yahweh because, the argument has already been made. Why don`t you respond to the real topic I`ve started? I`m really interested to see how you explain yourself out of the item you`ve built in my head. That is seeing you as an opinionated spammer pushing your beliefs on a bunch of people that already believe the same thing s you anyway. Relentlessly uploading Atheist 101 videos to a point that often other content on the site is pushed out of the way to an inconvenient reach. Where ultimately your videos leave everyone unaffected, where votes count as a head nod of agreeance, not a recommendation for others to see your post... not that others would get anything new out of them either - just more head nodding.

^ i had a cat which didnt` seem very bright at all, many years ago. it would jump up on the kitchen counter and paw at the hot stove burner. Then it`d flinch back in pain from the heat, of course. Though, next thing you know, it`d be right back there touching the very thing it didn`t like, the thing which caused it pain. Now, being that i`m not a cat, I really have no idea why he kept doing that. However, being a human, I am no closer to knowing why you watch videos of a subject which clearly annoys you.
