Violent Arrest By DC Police Officers

January 07/09, WASHINGTON DC. Allegations of excessive force are being made against two District police officers after a violent arrest is caught on tape. The video begins with a 27-year-old man running. Police sources say he was caught breaking into an apartment. "I have friends that are cops there's no vendetta or trying to get at 'em I just thought they handled that situation, they just went overboard," said Leonard Canady, who lives in the apartment building near where the arrest took place. "You know it's good cop bad cop -- they reflected themselves as bad cops".

i don`t see any excessive force, officer had his knee on his shoulder but that`s just a normal restraining technique...the guy got caught and can`t handle it

How about when they were wrenching dudes arms in the air AFTER they cuffed him?

Fucking people thinking that because a person committed a crime they deserve to be beat up and abused. If they resist arrest you gotta do what you gotta do, but once the cuffs are on cops have to be the bigger man, and by that I don`t mean become more of a bully and inflict pain and suffering onto a shackled citizen.

That`s why they are called pigs, because they act like fucking animals half the time.

yeah the cops were smashing his head into the grass, which is something they do all the time, even here in Canada. My buddy ran from the cops in his car and crashed it. Even though he got out of the car, laid on the ground and put his hands behind his back, the cops still smashed his head on the CEMENT and jammed their knee in his neck before they arrested him. It`s like it is part of protocol when arresting someone who is fleeing.

All the same, there doesn`t seem to be any inflicted injury. A lot of the time, the aggression displayed when arresting a feeling suspect is a result of the adrenaline. But cops need that chemical right up until it`s over. The way I see it, running from cops is assuming the risk that you will be tackled by a group of pissed off guys with weapons now jacked-up on adrenaline. Don`t want to be manhandled, don`t resist/run.

If the guy had been compliant, then this would seem a lot more excessive, otherwise I don`t see how this is possibly a big deal.

Well it happens, so why commit a crime and take that chance?
