Now I may be wrong because I have never actually done that kind of "RACING" in my life but I am pretty sure your body doesn`t move around that much. I mean when hes going straight at full speed its so tilted that you wouldn`t be able to see where your going if it were real. I wonder how you get in there without having to jump on top of the thing.

I thought the same about it moving around like that. But then I wonder if, to a certain extent, that how he achieves a feeling of G force/acceleration?

dunno, maybe

the rig moves to recreate the feel of the `G` forces involved with racing. the feeling you get when you accelerate pushes you back in your seat so the rig tips you up to let gravity pull you back into your seat ... and so forth with breaking and side to side movement.

just like those motion simulator rides at amusement parks.

It`s all a matter of frame of reference, which seems to be the hardest thing for most people to understand in basic kinetics. Yes, he`s tilting back, but the screen is tilting with him, so what the gamer feels (if he ignores the surrounding and only focuses on the game) is that he`s sitting flat and there`s a force pushing him forward (as if he`s in a car and he`s accelerating forward.

In reality, the force he feels is just gravity. But his mind`s frame of reference is in the game (ie. sitting flat, looking forward) so it tricks the gamer into thinking he`s actually in a vehicle and is being accelerated forward.

^ doesn`t work. I`ve never once felt like I was actually driving and not just playing a game on a little screen

Sure it`s not 100% accurate, but neither is the force feedback most wheels use. It`s about providing you with more information about what the car is doing. When driving for real you get to feel what the car is doing under you, how much grip the tyres have left, what the road surface is like, etc. But in games you miss out on all of that, so by adding things like this rig you are able to get so much more information about how the car is travelling, which will allow you to make all those fine adjustments most people do but take for granted when driving. What he`s trying to achieve is to recreate an enjoyable driving experience without the cost of panel damage and personal injury. O yeah and the $15k plus it would cost him to have a drive of an F1 car. ; )

People who are complaining about the sit moving around too much, they do (simulate) it the same way in the stationary 3D rides in Disney Land/World.

What i like is the PVC frame that`s already flexing under his weight. Combine that with sharp jerking motions, you have a recipe for hilarity that no one will witness unless he always video tapes himself playing...with himself.

Live For Speed is the game, the most "close-to-life" simulator available right now.
