I read Uncle Tom`s Cabin, and Nader`s comment didn`t make any sense. It really couldn`t be anything -but- racist.

For those that have actually read the text, Uncle Tom essentially played off a Christ like figure. Generous, kind-hearted, and a stalwart believer, Uncle Tom ended up being killed in a system that slaughtered and tortured. He was a sacrifice, a tragedy, and a hero.

Nader`s comment was made out of ignorance and stupidity. I hate Faux News, don`t get me wrong, but I`m calling foul on Nader for this one. Even if it wasn`t racist it was stupid.

According to Wikipedia:
Uncle Tom is a pejorative for a black person who is perceived by others as behaving in a subservient manner to White American authority figures, or as seeking ingratiation with them by way of unnecessary accommodation.

Nader was right on the money with this comment. With America`s health system ranking 37th in the world, and all the TRILLIONS wastes on wall street and other numerous corporations, if the American people believe that Obama will change America they are mistaken. He is in support of wall street fat cats, billion dollar corporations, and greedy HMO`s.
Good ol` Fox News. They think just because its a monumental historical milestone that there will be a black president, that the people should not criticize him or what he stands for. That, like religion, we should have a undeserved respect for him and follow his wishes without questioning anything. As a Canadian it doesnt affect me much about how America is governed, but i have friends in the states that have to "deal" with the HMO`s of America and i feel true sorrow for them. So i hope Obama proves me wrong, but Nader`s comment is FULLY reasonable and should be question by EVERY American in the USA.

Nader hit the nail on the head. Sadly though it`s because of the pro corporate attitude in America that Nader lost his spoiler status. It seems (as in Ron pauls case) that as soon as you stop towing the corporate line your made to look like an imbecile by the media.

Look it up on Wikipedia all you want but the book has taken a ridiculous bias in modern times. Any one that can say that about the Uncle Tom character hasn`t read the material.

If Nader is referencing that sort of bullshit it would put his comment into perspective, even if it is an ignorant one. -_-
