Ive been following this for some time, and have been helping the awareness and distribution of numerous online petitions(In Oz bars where I live in Paris no less). One of the first was by Electronic Frontiers Australia in 1997, but now there are several main petitions and tens more less credible going on.
This CANT happen and I CANT believe this is happening in a modern democracy; my country, Australia....no way fuck that, we`ll see them on the streets before it does!

Once again some government in some land devicely hijacks a form media to make it seem as if they`re combating yet another incurable issue. If it isn`t video games and teenage crime or obesity its the internet and PAEDOPHILLA, errrrrgh bad internet!

Firstly, if there was a switch for the internet and it was off, we would not be ushering in a world free of kiddy porn, ironically we would be introducing alot more pedos out of their virtual haven into our playgrounds. I`m pretty sure there`s no withdrawal date for the war on paedophilliia. This is just another governmental ploy to regulate and eventually tax/profiteer from a media that is becoming more and more relevant to the world. This is nothing more than 1 minute after a spider bite; there`s shitloads to come if they get this through.

yeah coz australia`s internet service isn`t crappy enough... is there still usage limits there? i remember when i had telstra cable, got thru the 1gb limit in a couple days then had to wait 3 and a half weeks to use it again, absolutely fucking retarded.

And the worst part (other than a slowing of traffic speed by up to 80%) is that once they have the frame work to ban one sort of material guess which huge and powerful corporations will be lobbying to have torrent sites banned as well. So governments use something that is extremely bad, to start ultimate control over the newest media. Its been done with newspapers, radio, and television. I use an internet provider that has filters and it has reported me for downloading movies that I have bought. So beware everyone, the internet will become the newest media that is no longer free, or for the public. All will be under government control if we let it happen.

yer Sato, I`m a New Zealander working in Aussie, the internet sux enough already here. What I pay in NZ for fibre optic broadband with unlimited DL you can only get 20gig per month on 28.8kbps!

plus when i tell customers in the shop i work at to look it up online half of them say "I don`t have access to the internet" WOW!!!
