Dick Cheney Guilty By Own Admission

With Dick Cheney`s admission that he authorised the use of TORTURE including Water boarding, should he be prosecuted as a War Criminal? It makes no difference WHAT provoked him to do such a thing and to invoke the 911 attacks as a reason or excuse does not carry any muster. Their IS NO and CAN NEVER be; a reason to commit WARCRIMES. That is what our social fabric is held together by, isn`t it?

Nothing will happen to Dick. Nothing. And he knows it very well. Most americans are waayyyy too preoccupied shopping and eating to do anything about Bush & co`s warcrimes and the countless deaths they caused. And don`t expect Barack to do anything about it either, he might end up like JFK.

The author of the video clearly does not know what he`s talking about.

Information is as powerful as ammunition in a conflict... What can you guys come up with to get information without torture? The world isn`t a fantasy land where everyone can just get along with each other. People are quick to critisize but when put in the same shoes will either not know what the fuk to do or do the exact same thing.

Imagine if a peice of information obtained from torture can stop a terrorist attack and save many lives. And now imagine if you failed and tens of people have died because of that. Its a dilemma... would you go against your morals so you can save the lives of many others? Cheney chose yes and I`m sure some will choose no... but please realize where he`s coming from and not just scream MONSTER like an angry mob.

My point is what else can you do? 4 out of 10 ppl won`t talk with conventional methods. Then what? Just throw them into jail and forget about it? Shouldn`t you at least try and get as much information as possible? Reliable or unreliable, cross referencing and double checking can still make whatever peice of intel there is more useful than none.

Its a very complicated dilemma and the article you quote highlights the negativity of torture but provides no insights into what should be done to collect information. Once again, its easy to critisize but hard to fix.

Also feel free to disagree with me for this point... IMO, I don`t have much motivation to defend enemies with the intent or knowledge to wreck havoc upon us from torture.

*coughs* I`ll just sum up the main point of Laminated ID here:
Torture information is unreliable information. And unreliable information is worthless.

But since in torture you can -never- have a reliable source (in contrast to non-pressure methods) but only clues, all information you actually gain is primarily worthless unless it can be backed up from elsewhere.

Apparently you assume, Zeroenna, that every person in prison has a story to tell which is something worth to the government, yet it`s not. Don`t fall for the illusion that every Guantanamo prisoner actually is a terrorist or has actually something planned.

Even if so - the chances of pointing out that piece of information you could actually use among all those false positives you gained from torturing the wrong guys (the "four others" Laminated quotes) is bascially the needle in the haystack.

It`s as simple as that: Torture gives worthless information, yet people do it because it`s easy.
What I don`t understand is the viewpoint of people who say "if it fends off a terrorist attack"...
So it`s alright to torture, almost kill so many innocent people who have nothing to do with it at all (and the chances are high) to find ONE mofo?

lol,these guys where torture for one reason and one reason ONLY, they need terrorists, you see al-qaeda are and where imaginary and you can only fight an imaginary war for so long,

so you KIDNAP innocent people , thousands of them and you hold them withouth trial, breaching the very same ethics and law that make the US all high and might in the first place. the people held will obviously hate the US. as will they wives, and children, after all they where held in what is effectively a camp specificaly for torture, and this will ensure that there will be plenty of future "terrorist" so that they can keep their war going.

the sooner the drones / sheep/ lemmings/ or whatever (the citizens of the western countrys) realise the WE`RE the bad guys, then the sooner we can stop this non-sense, unfortunatley, they have spent alot of money and time to ensure the drones stay drones, so im thinking it wont all end until we`re aprt of a fall out 3 type scenario!! (thats because Humans have only done one thing consistently well through out recorded history and that is...... being naive, feeble minded idiots who allow a corrupt few to rule.. YAY for us!!)
