i would like to see a panned out shot of the course. particularly, what stops him from climbing ANY pole? why does he have to use the first one? im sure theres something stopping him from climbing any pole, but i would like to see what it is.

if there wasnt, he would just climb the pole with the nuts in it. curious that they are smart enough to figure out the obstacle course though. seems smarter than say... most breeds of dogs. (outside of the genius breeds, like poodles.)

^ there are two methods used to prevent them from climbing any pole, the first being to grease the poll with a heavy oil (so it doesn`t get washed off in the rain)- or by putting an upside down cone on the poll to prevent them from climbing

and I don`t think it is all about intelligence....it also has alot to do with dexterity....I know that my dogs are smart enough to figure all the mental tasks out but they don`t have the dexterity to run across the log rolls

This was from a program called `Daylight Robbery 2`, looking at how good squirrels were at problem solving. For anyone who`s interested.

There was another program called `Bird Brain of Britain` looking at how different species of birds worked out how to remove match sticks and stand on levers to get a peanut out of a perspex box in the wild. The final challenge on that was immense. Haven`t been able to find it anywhere tho.
