He`s been in a buttload of films but almost all of them suck. He`s too good for today`s situational talking-head hollywood comedy. He`s a physical comedian of what is nowadays regarded as a classical variety. He no more belongs in modern hollywood than does Charlie Chaplin.

I speak as a lifelong fan BTW.

Blackadder (one word) worked because everyone involved was cut from the same cloth. British comedy was extremely insular in the 80s, all the big hitters knew each other. Those conditions just don`t exist anymore, and thanks to the internet, they never will.

I could actually write a thesis on this but I`ll stop.
