"Yeah yeah yeah!" The song was rubbish, but the video was sweet. I have so much respect for pilots. It`s hard enough to fly, let alone fly in a bloody crosswind.

actually... on most occasions, pilots secretly love crosswind landings.

I thought concord pilots had to be amazing just to walk on to the flight deck. WTF?

I`d like to dispute the claim on about half of those that they "almost ended in disaster." Only the ones like the helicopter almost landing on the Cessna are in that category. The ones with the planes landing at an angle are actually quite common, as it is the standard way to land in intensive crosswinds.

Impressive non-the-less, but not quite a near-disaster.

^ I agree. Great skill to land a huge aircraft with that kind of precision in harsh crosswinds. One thing that helps though, is that when you have so may tons (huge momentum) moving in line with the runway, when the tires touch down it actually just helps to pull / turn you straight to the overall line of travel. Planes can fly crooked relative to their actual line of flight. But most of us are so used to cars, which only drive in the direction they point, so it looks like the planes would surely drive off at an angle when they touch down.

Being a pilot myself (ultralight, amphib), I never have to do strong crosswinds, because the water is not a straight line. My little plane is also immensly more nimble, and I have only my own ass at 35-40mph to worry about.

I have maximum respect for those pilots.

Wow! Huge planes that just suspend almost still before landing(stalling)! Planes that can turn on a spot mid air before landing!

You just never hear or see those kind of things except now off the internet.

the 767 one and the following 747 one where they completed their turn to line up with the runway as they touched down were great jobs, definitely emergency landings.

The slight sideways approach is fairly standard procedure for large jets in a strong cross wide I think.

The maker of this video was probably convinced crosswind landings are uncommon.

They are not. Every single crosswind landing in this movie is as normal as.... normal.

They look wicked tho, admitted :) but please, those can hardly be classified as "near crashes".

And for the next guy commenting on me: YES I am a pilot.
