Flat Lightbulb

The Flat Bulb is a good re-invention in the traditional product. Designed by Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim, the Flat Bulb is only the third of the size of a regular bulb, reducing the cost of packaging and transport. Its slim shape allows bulbs to be easily stacked and prevents breakage as it does not roll. The product was introduced at 100% Design Tokyo.

Fluorescent light is bad for your eyes, contain mercury vapor making disposal a tad complicated and broken bulbs very dangerous. Not to mention they burn out in a fucking month.

^yes there are, CFB - compact fluorescent bulb.

also the shape it has makes it easier to break while screwing it in unless you make the glass thicker, so that guy`s idea is about as innovative as ball sweat cologne.

SolarAbyss???

I`ve had CFLs for more than 10 years, which are turned on every day, and left on for hours at a time.

I don`t give a fuck about the environment, but I like what they`ve done to my electric bill, because I`m greedy like that when it comes to money.

I have to replace mine 3-4 times as often as the incandescent bulbs. It`s more expensive to replace them than they save on electricity for me.

And it`s not just the environment, if you break one you need to vacate because the vapors can kill you.

http://www.epa.gov/mercury/spills/index.htm#fluorescent

I think it`s more hassle than it`s worth.

Vuarra don`t worry, the free market, supply and demand, and the fact that people are like you will solve all the environmental problems we face.

just keep doin what yo` doin! Waste is what hurts the environment

SolarAbyss is right unfortunately. I work for a government agency, and they actually have to collect the fluorescent bulbs, and have them hauled away by a special company. We can`t just throw them in the trash because they contain hazzardous material inside. What`s stupid is that they collect them long enough, until they have a truck load of bad bulbs to ship out. Stupid fluorescents. >:-(

No, I don`t like the light from flourescent bulbs, but where do you tards` get your statistics? Flourescent bulbs use 18 times less electricity than incandescent-tungsten bulbs and, yes, they last longer too. (Unless you buy the more expensive incandescents.) That`s why they`s so popular in offices....because they are way cheaper!!

Of course, many companies are switching to the new spiral and other types of ionized gas bulbs. Same technology as flourescents, without the harsh color.

BTW, for you Tesla worshippers...these new bulbs are based on his ideas, as were flourescent and neon bulbs before them.

Flourescent lights are allready obsolete. LED`s work better and last almost forever

Gotta give a vote up for Vuarra because my incandescent bulbs had to be replaced in a few months, and I bought fluorescent bulbs a few year ago and never had to replace bulbs since.

@ therogueranger sure, LEDs are great, but at the moment, the price to produce an LED light with the equivalent brightness to other lights on the market is far too high.

And to all you shmucks afraid of a lil mercury vapor, you also afraid to eat fish? Theres more lead and mercury in fish then there is in a fluorescent light bulb. and how many people still own CRT televisions? there`s evil mercury in those too! Here`s a hint, dont break fluorescant bulbs and you wont even have to think about it.

^There are two incandescents that have burned for over 100 years. On average I have to replace mine every 1 1/2 years while I have to replace flourescents every 4 months or so. I don`t know why, they just do.
