She really didn`t explain anything except reiterating a couple of her key main points. You either "get it" or you don`t.

TED talks kicks ass! Definitely one of my favorite things I`ve found online that I consistently find entertaining, fascinating, & always informative. Props to whoever brought them here! I`ve played with & known many a musician who wouldn`t understand this at all. They can read music, & play shit note for note, but they don`t get the feel of the song, or how to play it with a band that is going to interpret it differently than the original artist, &/or the original song.

^ To summarize, I get it, & I really appreciate it! & I`m going to send links of this to many people.......

"Glennie has been profoundly deaf – meaning that she has some very limited hearing – since age 12. This does not inhibit her ability to perform at the international level. She regularly plays barefoot for both live performances and studio recordings, to better "feel" the music"

this could apply sooo much to musicians now. lots of kids learn instruments and learn the songs, but what they lack is everything learning music is about.

I love this woman. She is an inspiration. If a profoundly deaf girl can become a world class percussionist, then there is a chance for any one of us.
