As a non American i stayed up all night to watch the election results. Even if you think Obama will be little different to Bush it was a great thing to watch.
So many people came out to vote and get involved, so many people genuinely cared about the outcome. It was an excellent snap shot of democracy in action. I was vaguely tempted to start yelling `USA..USA`!
That so many voted against the republicans shows to the rest of the world that most American citizens are as appauled with what the government has been doing as everyone else. It destroys the American stereotype of fat lazy religious hicks obssessed with keeping their guns and ignorant to the rest of the world, a stereotype George Bush strongly represented.

It also becomes much harder for jihadis to demonise the US as the Land of the Great Satan when it is led by a man whose middle name is Hussein, and who has relatives who are practising Muslims.

Unfortunately Obama comes into office at a very very bad time for America and faces some of the biggest problems any new president has had to face. He will not be able to solve any of them quickly, I just hope people have patience and that he is up for the job.

In conclusion, well done America you kicked ass!!

EckJerome: Australian version of "American". The idea is Americans talk or are full of shit. Comes from rhyming the slang term Yank = septic tank = "seppo" in the shortened form. Common in Queensland.

^ Chemo sucked...and it didn`t work. Still recovering from that. I have a new fast-growing tumor in my back. Joy. Now I have a cold and I`m passing a kidney stone.

Better is relative, I`ve been worse.

No real symptoms from the cancer though...wonder how long that will last? I`ve checked some actual research into alternatives, instead of just claims of miracle cures. Cannibinoids are only being researched on mice (in America anyway), and the results are mixed (and not promising) with my brand of cancer. If anybody knows of human research in Europe or elsewhere, pass it on. My flavor is adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer...which they`ve had little luck with.

Seppos, heh. Yeah, a lot of us are full of shit. In America and beyond; I dare to call it a universal phenomenon. But there`s still a lot of variety at the individual level.

Sometimes folks spew shit just because it feels good. Other times, they get tired of the smell.
