y`know I kinda like Chris Hansen now after watching this special. I always thought he was a jerk/messed up exposing random child predators to the world. But the truth is this show makes predators think twice and reflect on there pathetic lives.

I know what these people are doing is sick and despicable, but damn I do feel sorry for them being born the way they are. The guy obviously knows hes sick in the head, its just sad.

How is it that much of a mystery that these guys are the way they are?

They were obviously traumatized (probably sexually) at some point in their lives to the point that they relive it (or fantasize about it) over and over.

The only reason Chris Hansen is so perplexed is deep down he has an affinity (or extreme hatred) for these guys. So what makes a man want to run around their whole life looking for sexual predators? Probably someone that had his brother, sister, friend, or whoever else he knew, sexually molested. He was probably traumatized as much as these sexual predators were, but he was just on the other side of the field. So now he feels the need to run around and prevent all these guys from doing what they do.

So again, you are the way you are because the experiences you`ve had in your life, simple! He just wants to experience someone caught in the act because it gives him a little satisfaction. It makes him feel that he can make a difference when he couldn`t do anything about it as a little boy when he saw it happen to someone he cared about.

So basically with the format of this show, he tries to get the audience to hate them (or have extreme discuss) as much as he does. He wants jail time for a crime they didn`t commit yet, when instead he should be recommending they get rehabilitated.

Don`t get me wrong, if they actually do sexually molest a kid, they need to be punished but more so, they need mental help. Otherwise as soon as they are released from prison, they will do the same thing over and over.

Hell, this goes for all criminals.

Exactly, you have no real concise choices if you`ve had a traumatizing experience as a young one. All your choices are based on past experiences you`ve had. If all you make is bad choices than it explains a lot about the difficulties you`ve dealt with (or avoided dealing with) growing up.

So these guys going back and doing what they do after a "whole year" of rehab is a big surprise? A person experiences something bad as a child, they then hold it back with them for what, like 5-10 years? Then someone expects them to just turn it around in a years time? Little naive don`t you think?

So again, they have free will, as any human does. They just aren`t going to make same choices as you or I because of where the roads in life have led them.
