Once you have lived in Japan, it is really hard to get back to live elsewhere.

In Japan, the service is part of the culture. Tip is even forbidden.

New RFID chiped products are being used trial in a London supermarket.
You put the stuff in your basket, then walk thru the `checkout` exit. no people, just scanner which read your chosen products and bill you automatically.
Sound good? Great service?
I dont think so, what about all those `checkout` jobs for teens.

Hevo is absolutely spot on with his statement. My wife and I are about to move from Japan back to the U.S. and we always make jokes about "how can we survive without Japanese service?" We`ve been absolutely spoiled here in Japan, we might not be able to stay out of this country for more then a year at a time, heh.

Yeah. It`s not the exact same in Mexican gas stations.
But with as many people as Japan has in such a small area.
I could only imagine they would try to do any kinda of work to get some money.

But did that guy give them a tip or not?
Cause it would be fucked up if not.
