Macgyver is one of the only tv shows that I can recall that when he hits someone with his bare fits he actually shows that he is in pain from it. Other shows in a fighting scene they just act like they have iron fists and don`t feel any pain.

Why MacGyver is an anti-James Bond:
- makes his own -cheap- gadgets
- never uses a gun to fight the bad guy
- feels pain when hitting the bad guy
- has a mushroom hair
- doesn`t get any hot girl

Ever see that manga series "The Guyver" ? Totally based on MacGyver.

EDIT:
Say, who would win in a fight between MacGyver and Dick Van Dyke? (I know MacGyver`s a character, but Dick Van Dyke doesn`t play characters. He`s just Dick Van Dyke. They just throw him into a hospital and tell him he`s a doctor.) I mean, Yeah, MacGyver would like... pick up a stone from the ground and suck all the moisture out of it, and hold the moisture in his mouth while he hollowed out the stone with his thumbnail and spat the water out into it, so that he had a cup of water... which he used to make a hydraulic battering ram. But Dick Van Dyke would simply levitate a hundred feet in the air, his eyes would go black, lightning would shoot out of his skin, he`d let out this massive scream and out of his mouth would fly a three headed dragon with a machine gun who`d just gun down macgyver and go on to bring about the apocalypse.

The smart money`s on Dick Van Dyke.
