Most prescription sleeping pills have a type of drug known as a benzodiazepine (a central nervous system depressant) as the active ingredient. Benzodiazepines include chlordiazepoxide (Librium) and diazepam (Valium). OTC drugs can be just as dangerous and addictive as most of these street drugs can be.
