As familiar as the face on the dollar bill? Wow, what a *yawn* profound opening.

And, gee, legend and folklore have replaced fact? Right, like that never happens with ANY historical figures...let alone modern celebrities. It`s not like most of us weren`t already aware of some of Washington`s false legends.

Okay, I learned a couple of things I didn`t know, but that hardly justifies delt_osvp calling the man overrated. Yeah, he was a man like any other. And the point is? He`s still one of the greatest figures in the history of the world!!!

So his house burned down when he was a kid, his dad died when he was young, he was in debt to unethical British colonial institutions, and is innovative and intelligent enough to overcome these obstacles to become General of the Continental Army and eventually become the first President of the United States (and he did a pretty damn good job at it too)

Washington was known as the "Town Destroyer" by the Haudenosaunee Indians because soldiers, acting on his orders during the French and Indian wars, laid waste to entire villages and even made tobacco pouches out of Indian womens` breasts, and leggings out of their tanned skins.

The SS could have taken lessons from Washington. Maybe they did...
