No rights are being denied, btw. You have the right to be gay, which you`re obviously exercising. Marriage, however, isn`t a right, its a legal binding.

Since when does the strength of love rely on a social construct such as marriage for its worth?

How would I feel if someone passed a law saying I couldn`t marry? Well, I`d go on loving my partner and continue to wonder why people think I give a damn about what they think. Doesn`t change anything.

Why do people even bother with the legality of marriage? If I was a christian, I wouldn`t run around signing legal documents just so I can prove I`m married to someone and so I could get various legal benefits because of it. I`d just find a priest and a church, get married and tell the lawyers to fuck off.

Marriage isn`t a right because its a legal construct. Like I said, you have the right to be gay, nobody is stopping you there. Marriage is a piece of paper, you can exchange vows by yourself. Its up to you and your personal character how much taking a vow means.

People think they`re entitled to everything.

Praetorian your argument is false and is based on the fact that your assuming homosexuals are not allowed the same legal rights like the rest of us, discrimination anybody?

First of all those of the same sex who want to get married want their marriage to be seen as legal. They want to be able to have the same legal binding rights any one of us have. They are human beings just like the rest of us.

Second why would it matter if their marriage is legal? It`s not like same sex marriage is going to destroy your own life, basically stop forcing personal opinions and beliefs onto others lives.

EDIT:
Oh and zaiyar makes a good point, yeah love really doesn`t matter concerning the legal parts of marriage, but lets say for the sake of the argument that people who wanted to get married of the same sex didn`t love each other, theirs no legal reasons why they shouldn`t be allowed to. There is no legal aspects that will affect your life so their shouldn`t be any reasons why they can`t get married concerning the legal aspects.

lol @ praetorian and his comment about olberman not playing sports but o`reilly did.

Some of the younger viewers here may not know or remember this but Kieth Olbermann was one of the best Sportscenter anchors in the history of the show. In my opinion he was the best ever. He and Dan Patrick teamed up for years and made the show what it is today. I dont know how you can even make a negative comment towards olbermann and sports.....

Also, more on Exploder`s point, is homosexuality purely biological? I don`t think that`s been proven, and I don`t think it can be. How many "gay genes" would you need to find, if any exist at all? In my opinion, it`s more of a nurture-influenced trait, as opposed to nature-influenced. Everyone can be gay, it just depends on certain cues or environmental criteria triggered during a person`s sexual development.

Different for everyone, but the path is always there.

I was terribly disappointed that down here in Florida Amendment 2 passed.

It`s now part of our state constitution.

"This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."

Pretty sad that this is happening all over the place, people still have a long way to go.
