You have to understand his position as marijuana is a self conflicting case, while on one hand it is use as a medical use and the other hand people use this loop hole and abuse it and roll their own marijuana.

The really important point is his statement that he won`t use Justice Dept. resources to go chasing after state law discrepancies, because there are important things to be doing instead. IE, he won`t be sending in the feds to bust innocent people using medical pot as allowed by state laws. BRAVO.

It`s also very important to realise that this was pre-election. We will have to wait a while to see the full truth of where he stands on issues like this. He has had to watch his tongue too much to get elected. It makes sense, from a social justice perspective, that he would strongly favour a position like decriminalisation, getting millions of innocent people out of expensive prisons, and saving billions of dollars on pointless law enforcement actions. That`s a powerfull tool if you want to ballance a budget, deepen popular support, and possibly find a new source of bodies for a new domestic peace force. I will note too that this last point might be pivotal to pushing military energies into something more benign, which he will have to do if he wants to take on the military industrial complex at all.

Bravo Exploder indeed.

I remember him saying during the campaign that using Justice Dept resources on busting medicinal marijuana users was a waste of resources. His stance is more like a don`t ask don`t tell kind of thing. There are more pressing matters at hand and I have confidence in him in actually doing something positive with the pro-marijuana movement.

as a pot smoker from canada i am sorry for my fellow friends the US with those crazy laws for a lil joint but its sad to say but i think it would be better for obama to stay out of this one. Bush messed up the economie and the forein relation during is terms but is to Obaba to restore that back like it use to be. he got a lot to do, but before talking about weed let`s try to avoid a WW3 with China iran korea and Russia and all the piss off arabs and the piss of rest of the world agains the US

Marijuana should be legal anyways. Or at least decriminalized. Prohibition doesn`t work. To be the country with the most of its own people in prison in the world is pretty crazy. Banning an industry that could literally be the new wonder crop for your country with which you could make everything from bio diesel to paper, to clothing, to cooking oil, to engine oil, to the number food source to so many other amazing uses, because the companies that would stand to loose out because of it are too powerful to go against, is retarded. Straight up, mentally handy capped.

Yeah the world is pissed off at u.s but when worse comes to worse those niggas are sticking with the U.S. Frenchie McPuss may say "go F*76" urself america, but when the time comes it will go with the U.S as gay as it sounds. I`m afraid with Russia positioning nuclear missile in that little land it owns between lithuania and poland we`ll be going to war soon. I don`t see Obama pullin the missile program back. And as a consequence Russia has said it will fry the radar in czech rep. (which would be illegal n a declaration of war) and nuke poland (another dec. of war.) I don`t think it`ll go well for us now that western europe has cut back the massive armies it had during the cold war. Then we could`ve won. Now our odds are bad, especially since china would join muther russia, odds of 1-100?

Galvatron...in case you hadn`t noticed, Health Canada has one of the most manic attitudes in the world AGAINST any kind of research into medical marijuana. It just doesn`t happen in Canada, despite the former government`s lip service to decriminalization. And how`s that guy in Nova Scotia doing? Seems the feds put quite an effort into dealing with him.
