Last Friday my wife and I were discussing Proposition 8 with some friends, a lesbian couple. They were concerned about discrimination. My wife asked if they were voting for Obama and they replied that they could never vote for a black president.
Obama is in and prop. 8 failed, the irony.

Gays have always had the right to marry. What`s wrong with the great tradition of marrying a woman and conducting you gay life discreetly on the side. That`s win-win all around, you meet society`s expectations, you get all the cock`n`bum fun you want, and your wife gets to shag around as much as she wants without having to worry about a jealous husband.

Not speaking from experience, prefer women myself, but our societies are built on proud foundations of repression and hypocrisy which I feel are dangerous to mess with.

Since all the people at my job are religious republicans, all I hear is, "If gay marriage was allowed all we would have is gay people around and no normal people to make babies. We would become extinct. Oh and the bible says it`s wrong".

I thought there was a separation between church and state. I don`t even know why I work here any more...

I had an interesting discussion with two people yesterday. One said "prop 8 passed, so that`s a good thing". I asked him "why?" He replies, "because gay people shouldn`t be allowed to marry". I asked "why?" He couldn`t answer that question.

I then said, "I think gay people should be able to do whatever they want as long as it`s not hurting anyone else." Then two people that voted YES on 8 agreed with me. I don`t get it.

i blame parents...and the organizations that funded most of the campaign FROM out of state! wtf? When I was in elementary school, marriage in any form wasnt spoken of. The argument that teaching gay marriage in school is a fallacy. No one`s mentioned how Mormons used to marry multiple wives, how certain Muslims seek 72 virgins when they reach heaven, or in this life, how in many countries, multiple wives are allowed. Does that make the average person want to have more wives/husbands?

Parents tell teachers to educate their children, and when they do, they get pissed. What`s wrong with telling of different ways of life?

It`s the parent`s job to teach values. So, if you don`t want gay kids, tell them that. That`s your right. You`re raising the kid. But don`t think that by sheltering a child, you`re doing them any better. give reason to your hatred. Don`t just make absolute statements.

Gen Y`s parenting skills have got to be better...kids on leashes, no spanking, multiple cases of "personal rights" being violated.

Marriage...as in the religious sacrament...should be restricted as the church sees fit. It`s their club house. No legal document should force them to treat it one way or another. If you`re going to be truly fair here, you can`t force one group to bend their beliefs for the sake of the other. That would just be the same problem in reverse.

Instead, what you can do is open the legal benefits to couples of all sexual preferences, and, of course, they can have their own ceremony with all their friends and family and what have you.

If religion isn`t something important to you, then why would you care what it`s called? As long as you and whoever you`re in love with are unified and acknowledged in the legal system as being such, everyone wins.
