no, you cant just SAY guns are illegal because people have guns already. instead you were suppose to make it illegal just to own a gun before everyone had it (like in Japan) and make it extremely hard to get your hands on guns. The only people who have guns in Japan are Cops and like bad assed Yakuza people but Yakuza people wont shoot anyone because just firing a gun (not hitting anyone) can give you a life sentence. its too late to say its illegal to own guns now that everyone has guns, unless you find a way to collect EVERY SINGLE gun out there but thats obviously impossible so all we can do is give guns to everyone and make it equal.

If the government ever decided to make guns illegal in the US, there would be a war. I think everyone should have a gun. Of course I also set up traps in my own house to kill any unwanted trespassers.

here in australia a bad shooting happened in port arthur tasmania which really sparked gun control & i think it has been very positive.

you`ll never stop the black-market trade of weapons and you can still get a gun here if you have all the proper provissions.

during the start of the gun control people were very untrusting & reluctant to change but now no-one really seems too bothered by it.

all it did was stop the average joe from getting a gun EASILY and creating alot of havoc - there were even buy back shemes in which people who had guns could turn them in without being uncompensated.

the lack of gun control certainly HASN`T helped in the decrease of serious shootings such as virginia tech & i highly doubt that others packing guns will deter a person crazy enough to commit crimes like this in the first place - its kind of like saying `the more guns we have the safer we will all be`. but your actually 52% more likely to shoot a family member than an intruder.

Know what will really end gun violence? Banning guns for everyone except for hunters.

What this report didn`t mention is:
-all the deaths that happen by accidental discharges and kids playing with guns
-guns are the most lethal weapons used in crimes of passion
-if guns were banned then there would be virtually no more gun violence, no more drive bys, and no more armed robberies

Most of Europe has banned guns and yet your doom and gloom prediction isn`t valid there. Why do you think that is?

Like the con said, they don`t care who tells them they can`t have guns. If they want a gun, then they WILL get a gun.

The banning of guns will give an advantage to armed robbers/killers over people without them.

There is no real solution to gun violence.

Guns are an important tool of society, the police wouldn`t be able to police without their gun simply because of the power it holds over people.

In theory, if you ban guns the ones following the law will follow like they normally do and be forced not to protect themselves. Criminals will be criminals, if theyre willing to break one set of laws, why wouldn`t they want to break another?

Guns are here to stay. They are a source of power and people just don`t relinquish that. It`s probably better to let citizens to have guns but it can still be problematic nonetheless if everyone has a gun.

My theory on why having a gun in every home would be good:

Knowing someone has a gun is a big deterrent if you were to think about attacking or robbing them.

If guns were made illegal, only people who obey the law wouldn`t have guns. So any criminal with a gun or weapon could feel confident breaking into a home knowing he`s not going to face much of a threat from the victim.

Gun controll will ever truly work if "ALL" guns including blackmarket guns were eliminated, not just the legal ones floating around.
Other wise the whole process will only benefit the wrong people who will somehow get a blackmarket gun.
In Europe and Japan the majority of blackmarket guns have to be smuggled into their respective countries, and legal guns have to be imported making it that much harder to procure a gun.
Where would it be easier to get a blackmarket gun.
In a country that has restricted proliferation or a country that cries out that it is your right to carry a gun to protect you from all the other guns floating around?
