Goddamn freeloaders expecting people to DONATE money to them to rebuild in a place that should never have been built in the first place??? Hell, I`ll let the gub`mint pay to move the freeloaders out of there...but if they insist on rebuilding, it`s on their own dime and they should get their own insurance to pay for their flooded asses when the next hurricane comes along!!!!

New Orleans has been hammered by hurricanes 27 TIMES since it was founded. GET THE FUCKING CLUE PEOPLE!!!!

That said, the original New Orleans was built on a decent site, assuming you want to have a port city as close to the mouth of the Mississippi River as possible. That part of the city did not flood during Katrina. It was all the drained swampland surrounding it that flooded. The 9th Ward should be returned to the swamps. Ironically, that would provide an additional buffer to protect the older and more wisely-built areas.

50% was renters, 30% was poverty, and studies show 80% of blacks will not return. It sounds fucked up. http://www.boston.com/news/local/rhode_island/articles/2006/01/26/study_new

EckJerome...That would make way too much sense! Then again, these people trying to rebuild in the same area doesn`t make much sense at all. I never said blacks were the sharpest tools in the shed either though. Blacks live in the slums, because they make them the slums. Hell, mother nature was trying to do the world a favor! I don`t think anyone should help anyone out that can`t even help themselves! Obama for President!

Depressing.

I saw places in Iraq with better homes than that. and that was after a war.

one thing i don`t get is why houses in the US are built out of wood, especially in areas prone to disasters like hurricanes. in asian countries that i`ve visited, most buildings are made out of reinforced concrete, and they usually do nicely against typhoons, floods, and earthquakes that i`ve witnessed

Seriously. Rebuilding a city that has been destroyed is a far more costly event than building one from scratch. The amount of time that is wasted and resources that are wasted, could be put to far better use. People are fucking morons. Katrina destroys a city and immediately after everyone wants to move back. How on Earth are we so god damn ignorant? Ever hear of learn from your mistakes? Building a city next to a river with such high amounts of alluvial deposits is retarded in it`s own rights, the river will always gain height there is not fighting with forces of nature.

It would be best to forget about half of NO and move the city elsewhere. Stupid videos like this just breed ignorance. This video is all about how everyone expects their government to give them a new home a job etc. and how Bush is a terrible person. It`s time to move ahead. Seriously.
