Well to hell with that.

I`m not going to get drawn into a debate about innocent people being found guilty and so on. I`m just gonna give you my basic opinion:

Child rapists are the absolute lowest form of scum on the planet. And as such, I *refuse* to regard them as human. Exterminate them.

I guess you could argue about differences in cultures and societies and so on. But that defeats the point of this - this is out society being affected, not someone elses`, and in OUR society, as it says in the clip, most find child rape to be absolutely morally reprehensible.

And for fucks sake leave God out of this. The last place God should be is in slap bang in an argument about capital punishment, just as (to paraphrase Simpsons) "fact has no place in organised religion".

Finally, I have one more point to make about capital punishment arguments - not about capital punishment, but about the arguments that people make. Please, let me make this very very clear:

"Rotting in a cell is a more horrible punishment than execution anyway."

^ This is not a goddamn cohesive argument. Shall I explain it for you? If you`re arguing *against* capital punishment, that implies that you believe some punishments are too severe or too barbaric or too sadistic, no matter the crime ..... AND THEN you go and say "hey, but *this* way is MUUCH more sadistic!" ... where does that put your moral position in this? That makes you *more* savage than those in favour, ya morons. *Don`t* use that argument. It is redundant.

^ Really? I would`ve thought to pay for someone to live in an institution for another 50 or so years would be more.
Would be interesting to get a numerical comparison, then make a decision based on the cheaper option.
Also child rapists should lose the right to have a penis, cut it off if they are allowed to live so they will never forget the permanent damage they have done to an innocent life.

I know that if my child was raped, I would want the b$stard killed. However, I think that death is too harsh a punishment. I think the offender should be sentenced to at least 10 years in jail with parole provided they take chemical castration medicine while on parole.

Repeat offenders should be punished more severely.

Meh, if you sodomize rapists with a baseball bat instead, regardless of what happens in court, they certainly will know the pain and fear they have inflicted on their victims intimately, (pun perfectly intended.) Plus if you kill them, how can they live to suffer? Death isn`t really a punishment considering everyone good or bad, righteous or corrupt has to die eventually anyway. Especially with the more humane methods we have developed for putting offenders down. Hmm, raped with big stick, poked with little stick...

Wow guys don`t you get it? The government is flawed and susceptible to corruption. We can`t go around giving men or women the ability to either put to death or maim/amputate/sodomize with a baseball bat members of their society.

Yes that is correct. It costs less to imprison a person for life then to execute someone. I`d read it takes about 1-2 million dollars and possibly as much as 3.2 million to execute someone after exhausting all the appeals. Its around 28 000 to house an inmate for a year as of 2006. The 2002 stat said 22 000.

Crimes like child rape and murder are not crimes easily deterred. In short the offenders don`t stop and think, "okay I might be executed for raping this kid now instead of just getting decades in jail, I better not do it..." That simply doesn`t happen. Its a crime of impulse and compulsion. There goes any argument about deterrent out the window. The only purpose of capital punishment is to punish. In my opinion we must not give the government any more power to punish us.

Also, Ozo I think you need to look up the word redundant.
