I wonder if Bush thinks he could get away with it. I have a feeling that the economic crash might save America because it might be too much for Bush to swing a bald faced naked power grab like that, in the face of economic crisis and such a strong Democratic lead. I don`t think they could spin it successfully as a true military emergency at this point, and too many people would get too rowdy. Let us hope anyways.

^ FDR served 4 consecutive terms during the great depression and WW2, and died during his 4th term. Now they held elections every time a term was up, but it doesn`t happen often that we change presidents during a war.

Perhaps the congressman was silenced because of the panic he created and the fact that there was no truth to his words, we can only hope.
