House Passes Bailout

After a week of wrangling, lawmakers give final approval to historic $700 billion bailout.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The House on Friday passed a far-reaching and historic plan to bail out the nation's financial system.

The vote for passage of the Senate-amended bill - 263 to 171 - was the result of strong lobbying on the part of the White House and other supporters of the bill all week, following the House defeat of a similar measure on Monday - a defeat that shocked the markets and congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle.

"I applaud the action taken by the Congress," said Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. "The legislation is a critical step toward stabilizing our financial markets and ensuring an uninterrupted flow of credit to households and businesses."

According to preliminary numbers, 172 Democrats voted in favor of the bill while 62 opposed it; and 91 Republicans voted for it and 108 voted against it.

...and yet another victory for the rich corrupt businessmen of america, another loss for the average hardworking taxpayer. This is really getting quite pathetic, how easily the top 400 families in America are screwing the rest of the population WITHOUT any major resistance. Their not even hiding it anymore!

"Hey! we were reckless with our money, fucked up the economy and now you`re going to pay for it, suckers!!"

The forluma for a depression bigger than the last is now in full swing. We have a bad econmy, mixed in with war times added with a corrupt and retarded government with no idea of what they`re doing and now we`re giving away 170 billion dollars that are not there. They are printing off money that isnt ever sapoused to be printed off. They`ve pulled the sink drain a long time ago we`re now slowly being swallowed in.

I think what this article fails to mention though is the the final bailout bill was a modifed version, here are some excerpts, The proposal - which calls for spending up to $700 billion to buy bad assets from faltering financial institutions - was heavily revised to attract wider support. The bill passed last night would extend an array of tax breaks worth $108 billion to businesses and families next year. It would also temporarily increase the limit on federal insurance for bank deposits from $100,000 to $250,000.
This also goes into saying that the wealthy will be taxed, a fair welcome to the orginal plan, take that bill gates!
