Bimmers and Mercs? Are you serious? They`re worse than most American cars nowadays, those BMWs simply begin disintegrating after 50,000miles. It will start out slow, like the transmission light coming on for no reason, than move over to an oil leak here, a rattle there than blamo and the whole car is just repair after repair -- oh and don`t forget the platinum repair costs (around 8 grand for an automatic transmission). I think the only Bimmer and Merc drivers out there are first buyers, once they`ve experienced what total trash those cars are they never go back.

I`d like to see someone under 24 who owns a new STi outright.

Only beemer I`d touch is an M3, only Merc I`d touch is way out of my price range. As for Lexus? Yeah... let`s drive around in a Toyota pretending we`re rich cuz it has a different badge on it lol. I`d take an STi over the M3 though, have plenty of money left over for a sweet bike.

northern_tide the basic STI goes for $60K new here in Aus packing about 220KW and 400Nm of torque. Who the fuck has that kind of money as a teenager or could even drive that how it`s been designed to be driven as a teenager?

Schism - In the States, an STi comes for about 35k starting and about 40k with a good deal of features.

Also, a lot of teens don`t have new STi`s, most drive older ones (you can pick up a 2003 for under 20k).

Now, seriously, who would own a used STi/Evo... You know it`s been driven harder than... well, you can finish the cliche prostitute analogy...

...but you get the point...

Teens are now picking up the Cobalt SS T/C. You can pick up a brand new Cobalt SS T/C for under 25k and they come with 260 horsepower.

Last comparison I read set it above the latest WRX, Mazdaspeed 3 and Lancer Ralliart (although the MS3 is driven a lot by teens too...)
