Corporate America is in control, those with money are those with power. Politicians` votes can be bought with campaign support or personal donations. The materialistic mindset of the American dream is bad news. If everyone would try to limit their purchases to small businesses whenever possible it would get better, but people are greedy. What we don`t realize is that buying your shit at Walmart because you`ll save a dollar is the reason why the rich get richer and you`re still just getting by.

^They obviously won`t benefit that day, because they`ll have a couple less dollars in their wallet. But in the long run, distributing money more evenly amongst all people instead of giving it all to the rich will definitely benefit those small business owners out, who are also trying to support a family, hoping that they can pay their bills next month.

Also, typically, employees of small businesses are paid more fairly, based on their performance, and if the Ma `n` Pa shop down the street is suddenly burdened with a plethora a business, someone making minimum wage at Walmart can leave that hole and get a better-paying job.

Not praising the Ford company today, but when Henry Ford started his business, he happily paid his employees well enough that they could easily afford to buy a Ford automobile for themselves. Unfortunately, that`s just not the mindset of big companies today. Walmart kind of has the same idea, except that they pay their employees so shitty that they can`t afford not to buy their products at Walmart.

10% of the population has 90% of the wealth (roughly). It would be better for those that need a bigger piece of the pie if the wealth was more evenly distributed.

However, forcing the idea of giving everyone equal slices of pie into government is the wrong way of going about it, ie socialism. Paying gas station attendants and doctors the same wages seems fair to the poor and lazy, but it eliminates the desire for anyone to ever become a doctor. If the right changes are to be made, it needs to be a voluntary change in mindset on the part of the people, not forced.

The american dream is greed. The goal is materialism. The goal is to have more and better toys than your neighbor. And shopping at Walmart helps us get a little bit closer to that goal, today. But I say fuck the american dream. Love your neighbor.
