WISCONSIN — A 19-year-old student was suspended from Wenatchee High School — and could face criminal charges — after he reportedly spread peanut butter on the forehead of a male student who has a peanut allergy.
The student with the allergy did not have an allergic reaction after the incident, said Wenatchee police Sgt. Cherie Smith.
The incident took place Monday at lunchtime.
Police believe the suspect, who lives in Malaga, knew that the student was allergic to peanuts, said Smith.
“There had been discussion about the peanut allergy” during lunchtime, said Smith. The Malaga teen reportedly stuck his finger in the peanut butter sandwich of another student, then rubbed the allergic student’s forehead, said Smith.
The student with the allergy did not wish to pursue charges, said Smith. But information will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review, with a disorderly conduct charge possible, she said.
