All the more reason to NOT watch TV unless its for purely entertainment purposes. I stopped watching TV years ago.

I don`t feel sorry for those people who actually think they`re getting correct and complete information from their TVs. They`re just too lazy and ignorant to look out the fucking window and see how much bullshit is being peddled at us by the mega-corps.

And now I want to watch the movie "Network" again.

"I`m as mad as hell, and I`m not going to take this anymore!!"

Amen Mr. Rather

And thank you very much for touching on the Georgia/Russian farce that was in our media before the whole Wall St. fiasco.

Not very. If you are unemployable, don`t speak English, uneducated and unwilling to conform to our social values then we welcome you with open arms. On the other hand, if you hold a degree in something impressive then don`t even think about trying to come here.

@ generic imitation:
there`s nothing more i`d like than to get out of here, but that would put you on the OTHER side. The US`s foreign policy is brutal, man. You don`t want to find yourself on the other side. A rebellion or "revolution" is more likely to happen soon. It`ll be crazy...

Rather is such a piece of shit. He is whining for the simple reason that he got caught treating obviously fraudulent material as proof and his bosses would not back him up when a bunch of bloggers in pajamas proved it. This man is a disgrace to news (like most of the talking heads among the alphabet networks) and the audience at this website is too stupid or too dishonest to admit it.

Good points all, Mr. Rather...but he forgot to mention the blatent partisanship being pushed by almost all network news, and the subjective and personal political agendas that is and has been pushed by news anchors, most especially himself.

^ Looking outside American news is never a bad idea, but it`s still difficult to get away from the fluff and partisanship. The point is to get your news from different viewpoints, allowing you to sort out a lot of the bullshit for yourself.

Back when my cable provider actually had an international news channel, I found the news from Germany to provide the best coverage or foreign events and least amount of partisanship...whereas the BBC has displayed (far-left) partisanship that blows away anything I`ve ever seen on American networks. Canada`s "The National" is a respectable program in general...similar to the PBS Newshour here in the United States. Both hows at least make the effort to appear objective (if that`s not always the result).
