Just playing a Never Gonna Give You Up near someone is NOT a Rick Roll.

A roll is when you trick someone into listening to the song or watch the music video by claiming that the video is indeed something totally different, very unlikely to be real and very compelling, like Halo 4 gameplay or the next Metallica album. The song then mocks of their gullibility.

Rolling is a very simple practical joke, is basically the "You`re shoes` untied. Ha! Made you look." of the internet. Just running up to someone and punching someone in the face and calling it a funny joke is just fucking stupid and it`s basically what you are if you think this kind of "roll" is funny.
