^You should remember that most western countries were not really any better before the 20th century, expecting countries like Iran and Afghanistan to just become the kind of countries we are today over night is stupid. The only way for a country to change is to let the people change on their own. If the people of the country accept the cruel leadership, then there is nothing anyone can do about it. They will become better and the only thing we can do about is to help them to help themselves.

Our politicians endorse this kind of shit under the guise of tolerance. In a way I agree with both exploder and Tada, Afghan society is at a primitive stage where religion is the absolute, our own society should set a good example and be open about our disgust.

Europe and America used to be horrible places to live in but became much better places to live in as education and communication with the surrounding world improved. Same goes for most countries. The civilizations in west Asia are very isolated so they rarely understand how and why other people think the way they do so they generally blame it on something extremely foolish like Satan.

Place like Afghanistan have poor infrastructure and poor education. So information gets there slowly and when it arrives few understand it. There are some pockets of information like the major cities where rich people who can afford proper education live, like the report said Kabul is considered liberal you think that`s just a coincidence?
