And as a side note, alternate histories to me usually mean something like Operation Sea Lion actually occured, or Coral Sea/Midway were won by the Japanese. Not Nazis resurrecting Crusaders to attack the Russians. Why would Crusaders attack the Russians? I mean, if they`re mindless zombies that attack anyone, then surely - and I don`t mean to seem overly insensitive here - the Nazis could have used the 10 million odd they gassed in the chambers. Much fresher, too. I`m quite confident there were never 10,000,000 crusaders, and I`m sure a coat of chainmail wouldn`t change the survival odds of someone who is already dead.

Although it looks entertaining enough. As in all anime, it`ll need a series of stock children characters: the quiet albino (of course, a clone), the fiery red-head, the social retard, the bully, and the nerd. And possibly the vacant pretty boy who will be martyred at some point for some reason we`re never really clear on.

To the individual below me, you`re half accurate.

I`ve lived in Japan the past 6 years and the average young `un you ask about the war doesn`t have a freakin` clue even when it happened, let alone who was the aggressor.

It`s like asking the average US kid "Who initiated the 2nd Punic War?" - they just think you said something about shaving crotches.

Although, sadly, it took the biggest beat down in history (ie: a pair of nukes) for the Japanese to realise they couldn`t fuck with the West ....

.... Will Russia realise this?

Which brings me back to this anime. Looks cool, but the PS3 game Valkyria Chronicles is just as good looking and is actually interactive. Check it out.

Japanese always have twisted view of reality. If u ask most Japanese kids about WWII they`ll tell u that they`re the victims not the aggressor. O well, I`m gonna download this anime anyway.

I know i would and i have no problem with the "atrocities" the russians did to the fleeing and captured nazis, it still dosent even remotly compare to the horrors the nazis did.

Mike Oh: In a sense they are the victim. I know that they kicked the shit off with China and the USA, but the retaliation that they received was one of the most shocking that the world has ever seen, so it`s sort of understandable why the feel a bit hard done to.

It`s the same with the Germans, sure they kicked shit off by invading Poland, persecuting Jews, etc, but in a way the allies forced them into such a position after the first world war by cutting up their territory, taking their trade, etc etc, that they felt that the only way to reclaim a measure of their previous dignity was to turn to such a charismatic radical as Hitler.

Major Lozer: The Soviets invaded Poland with the Nazis. Sure when the Nazis invaded Russia they raped and looted, and when the Soviets invaded Germany they returned the favor. But even after the war, the Soviets massacred millions of people, even engineering a famine in the Ukraine that killed some 3 million people.

Kold_Dusk - learn the history - then you may state your point of view. Regarding the invasion of Poland - Russia and Germany played the same game as France, England and US who watched and silently approved invasion of Chehoslavakia, Austria. This is Geopolitcs, mate, and it`s always right if your country benefits from it, as well as it`s unfair if your country is a victim of behind the scenes play.
On the other hand - your information about the famine in Ukraine is based on what your government allowed you to know - study some more material from both sides of the Iron Curtain and use your powerful analytical mind to reach a logical conclusion.
This is also relates to the `Gulag` legends that you may know and want to bring up.

Anime is made by Russian-Canadian crew under Japanese director, at last we got correct Russian texts in the genre.

Ded86, what can I say, you got me. I only know what I`ve been told through my state-run television and radio systems, and those pamphlets that randomly fall from the sky. I know so very little about what actually happened in World War 2, that I don`t understand why the British didn`t just destroy everyone with their Martian Tri-Pods.

Maybe someday, if I can scrape together a few thousand gold coins, I can take a flight to Russia and the sacred Tower of Knowledge, that I may peruse the holy scrolls of truth and finally find out what really happened all those centuries ago in World War II. Then I will finally be able to state my point-of-view. Because I don`t have the internet and can`t go to wikipedia or use google.
